Northsea secures pre-seed funding to reinvent customer research with AI

News

Amsterdam, October 16, 2025 - Northsea, the AI-native platform for customer research, today announced it has raised a €660K pre-seed funding round led by early-stage VC firm CapitalT, alongside a group of experienced business angels. The funding will enable the company to expand its team and further develop its product, addressing the growing inefficiencies in traditional customer research, a global $37B market plagued by slow, expensive, and increasingly unreliable survey methods

Reinventing customer research with AI

Northsea’s AI-powered research assistant automates every step of the research process — from survey design to respondent sourcing, data collection, and analysis — reducing manual effort by up to 80%. By engaging customers in dynamic, interview-style conversations, the platform uncovers four times more detail and delivers authentic, high-quality responses in an industry increasingly challenged by survey fraud. This enables consultants, investors, and strategy teams to generate richer insights and real-time recommendations at a fraction of the cost and time.

“We founded Northsea to solve a problem we experienced daily as consultants: customer research that takes weeks, is costly, and often delivers unreliable results,” says Geart van Dam, Co-Founder and CEO of Northsea. “With our AI-native approach, we make it possible to generate deep insights in days instead of weeks, helping strategy teams and investors move faster and smarter.”

“What impressed us about Northsea is how quickly the team has built a product that consultants and investors actually want to use with paying customers and strong traction just weeks after launch,” says Eva de Mol, Founding Partner at CapitalT. “This combination of deep domain expertise, technical strength, and clear market need is exactly what we look for in early investments.”

From consulting pain point to global vision

Founded by Geart van Dam (CEO) and Nick van Zanten (CTO), both with backgrounds in consulting and data science, Northsea was born from firsthand experience with the inefficiencies of customer research. Long before generative AI became mainstream, the founders were already building advanced AI applications and developing software from an early age, expertise that has shaped Northsea’s technology-driven foundation. The duo has built the platform entirely themselves and quickly gained traction among leading consultants and investors, who praise the ability to get insights overnight instead of waiting four to five days — while achieving greater depth and quality.

With the new funding, Northsea plans to double its team size, expand internationally, further improve its product, and become the go-to research partner for consultants, investors, and strategy teams worldwide.
